“Beyond Meat. The future of Protein.” 

 

Meat production is depleating our environment and that’s where Beyond Meat comes in! Beyond meat is plant-based “meat” product that is “better for human health, the environment, climate change and animals.” According to Wikipedia, “Beyond Meat is a Los Angeles-based producer of plant-based meat substitutes founded in 2009 by Ethan Brown. The company's initial products became available across the United States in 2013. The company has products designed to simulate chicken, beef, and pork sausage.” 

 

Beyond Meat has already left a lasting impact on our environment, including, “using 99% less water, 93% less land, 90% fewer GHGE, and 46% less energy.” All of these factors leave long lasting impacts on our environment which all goes back to climate change. Although their products are plant based, they still contain the same or even more amounts of protein, “no cholesterol, less saturated fat, and no antibiotics or hormones.” It is just as healthy and eveb better for our bodies! On their misson statement, they ask the question: “Why make meat from plants?” and the answer is simple… to improve human health, postively impact climate change, address global contraints, and improve animals’ quality of life. All because of Beyond Meat, our world is one step closer to becoming more sustainable.
